4th round of the IGE championship in Wolfshausen, Germany

5. June 2014

Andreas SchulzHi, here’s a small report after my race at the 4th round of the IGE championship in Wolfshausen. Conditions were near perfect. The track had loads of grip and the weather was great. However, the motocross section was not too over the top and there were not a lot of rocky sections, thus allowing me to run 0,4 bar on the rear and 0,5 bar on the front. I was able to win the start out of box 3 and reeled in the first group pretty quickly. Traffic did slow me down on the first lap placing me 2nd after the first hour. After the first hour, I found my rhythm and was able to take over the lead and pull a 25 second gap over 2nd place.

2nd Place, Andreas Schulz 4th round of the IGE championship in Wolfshausen

2nd place on podium. WTG Andreas!!!

My only problem was that I needed 55 seconds to refill my small tank, making 2 pit stops a necessity. After 2 hours and with this in mind, I put a little too much on the line and managed to hook my handlebar on a tree going through one of the forest passes winning me my first free flight for the day. With bent handlebars, I was able to limp back into the pits to endure an even longer pit stop than what I had originally planned. With a 90 second gap to the front, it was almost impossible to fight back for the lead. A little irritated at this stage, I began to ride even harder and was still able to close the gap down to 42 seconds at the finish. So another 2nd place this weekend has made things quite interesting at the top of the table standings. We now have a 4 week break and then we get back to refining our tactics. Til then, keep the throttle wide opennnnnn.
